Calibre (the famous ebook manager)
I already mentioned the Calibre application in a previous post but this time I set it up properly in order to to store and manage all the books that I bought on Humble Bundle and the Kobo store.
To install the latest version on Linux without relying on an outdated package or polluting your system, follow the instructions and run the command:
wget -nv -O- https://download.calibre-ebook.com/linux-installer.sh | sh /dev/stdin install_dir=~/.local/bin isolated=y
With Calibre, you can import your files, change their metadata, clean the title, author, and tags, and even bulk edit every piece of information that does not suit your reading workflow.
(not sure whether it works for everyone) Calibre uses tags to organize the books (e.g. the genre, or any piece of small information that you would like to add to a book). In order to convert those tags into "Kobo collections" during the transfer to your Kobo, some additional configuration may be required. E.g. on my computer, I had to change a setting in the the plugin Kobo customization > Extra customization, and add the "tags" entry to allow the automatic creation of Collections from those tags stored in the local library.
